I remember seeing the photo with my jewellery parcel in it! Poor you… there’s nothing like opening a mail box to see what’s arrived. I’m always getting in trouble for checking ours, just in case…. I think it’s from years of living away from ‘home’ and when family used to write letters to me. Now it’s generally just an email.

Yes, you have seen a photo of my poor, sad mailbox. By the time it is fixed, the Post Office will probably be down to only a few deliveries a week and the mail box will almost be irrelevant. . Going to the mail box used to be such an important daily ritual, but, like you, most of my mail comes via the internet now.

I was wondering what would happen to the humble Postman, but then I thought they’ll still be busy because everyone is ordering things from the internet which still need delivering. Yay!

That is true but a great deal comes by courier now and is delivered to the door and signed for. I think the plan here is to eventually reduce the regular mail delivery to about 3 days a week. And I have heard ‘ rumours’ that, if we want more deliveries than that per week, we would be asked to pay for them.

Everywhere in Singapore is so colourful and vibrant. I went to Brisbane last weekend with my sister. We had a lovely time. There is an exhibition of quilts from the V&A’s collection at the State Art Gallery which we thoroughly enjoyed, and then we went to a theatre festival on Saturday night to see a play which my daughter directed. It was amazing. On Sunday we went for breakfast at a café which has been voted Brisbane’s Best Breakfast five years in a row. It was delish!

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I love visiting exhibitions. I’m so glad the play went well, did you plan your UK trip around it? Was it hard to get a table at the best breakfast café? And what did you have?

    • the eternal traveller says:

No, our trip was booked last November and she was only asked to direct this play in June. Surprisingly it wasn’t hard to get a table but we were there fairly early. I think it gets busier around brunch time. I had Toulouse sausages with a sweet potato and caramelised onion hash cake, baby spinach leaves, a poached egg and tomato jam. Yum yum!

And I’ve just got back from my walk! But mine is just a quick belt round whilst I’m sure you’ve been experiencing some wonderful British countryside! It’s a Bank Holiday – hope it’s not too busy!

I would love to hear your thoughts...
