shopping trip to Bandung

A few weeks ago I was invited on a short three day trip to Bandung in Indonesia with my hubby with the promise of clothes shopping, massage treatments and eating out – how could I say no?

Bandung Airport

Bandung Airport

Bandung is the capital of West Java and is basically situated on top of a volcanic basin so the climate was somewhat cooler than Singapore, which was a welcome relief after the hot weather we had been experiencing.

Bandung has a lot of textile factories and one of the main reasons visitors go (from Singapore anyway) is to shop at the many Factory Outlets that have opened up there.  You can buy designer and high street goods at a fraction of the cost (which I did)!

Most of the Outlets have a restaurant attached and this particular one (Rumah Mode) had a lovely outdoor eating area with pretty red umbrellas and ponds.

We ate a selection of noodles and satay type dishes and a lovely gingery coffee!  Just what one needs to keep up the energy for shopping!

This was followed by a trip to the Zen Spa and a 90 minute Javanese full body massage for little more than US$8.00.

Pretty much the same happened the next day too!  Oh, but with a trip to the local cake shop where there were some frighteningly colourful sponges:

All-in-all it was a great trip, even though we had left the kids at home alone for the first time ever, but everything was still in one piece (including them) when we returned!

How exciting. Your first trip away as a couple again…this is just the beginning. I remember how worrying it is leaving the children home for the first time, but now you know they are fine you can do it again.

Your lunch of satays and noodles sounded delicious and I love the red umbrellas. Nice photos Cath.

I’ve been wanting to go away for a long time but you know how it is when planning something that fits around everyone’s schedules… I might just try and fit in another short trip(!). After all, massages don’t come cheap in Europe!

Those rainbow cakes do look surprisingly bright! Glad all went well with the kids too. Would be many more years before we can leave ours home alone!

I would love to hear your thoughts...
